The MAM application empowers field technicians to access required maintenance information and perform functions when and where they need to regardless of how they are connected. Tasks can be completed on a handheld device or laptop with information updated in the backend (SAP) system through synchronisation. In addition radio frequency identification (RFID) can be used to streamline key processes via a mobile device. It is designed to enable field technicians become more productive, make better decisions and to provide a tool for adherence to business process.

MAM is designed to work seamlessly and integrate into the existing SAP business suite of applications including Plant Maintenance, Materials Management. The Mobile Asset Management (MAM) application provides the facility for mobile workers to perform daily maintenance related tasks from instruction stored within handheld or laptop devices. Further capability provides users with the facility to create differing types of maintenance documentation in a connected or disconnected mode from the ‘Back-End’ SAP system.

• Work Order Management - Display and review work orders, confirm the tasks and activities to be performed and create new work orders. Additionally time performed undertaking planned tasks identified via the operations of a work order, display of technical objects and access to maintenance and repair history can be achieved.
• Notification Management - Display detailed list of Maintenance Notifications or create new ones using selection lists or RFID based technologies.
• Measurements and Counter Readings - Perform measurement and counter readings on Technical Objects using a handheld device. Create new measurement documents for the measurement points of a technical object and view measurement document history.
• RFID Management - Perform RFID tag reading to get information stored in the tag like technical object detail etc. and also allows users to write any required information in RFID tags.
